The semester is finally over and my committee obligations are mostly behind me, so I can finally hit the books. The first piece of fiction I’ve read this summer is Sally Rooney’s Normal People, which I really enjoyed, probably because Rooney is a Marxist. I also watched the BBC/Hulu TV series which was different, but also quite moving. It is so nice to have a little time for some leisure reading.

My life just got a lot better...
Okay, so this news made my day. While I loved both Discovery and Picard, and have to say I did miss the episodic nature of the old series and its optimism. With so much bad news in the world, I really didn’t need Picard to shake my faith in humanity. And I am thrilled that Anson Mount will be returning as Pike. Now if only they could get Jason Isaacs to come back to Discovery.

#1 Best Seller in Socialism. I know this is probably meaningless and that every book is a “best seller” in something at some point, but it is nice to know that the book is out there and still being read.
