Photos from the Half King Reading Series at the Salmagundi Club in New York
On Tuesday night, I had a wonderful time with Glenn Raucher and the Half King Reading Series. I did this event at the old Half King back in November 2018, and according to Glenn, I am the first author to have done this event in both places. We had a great crowd that asked fantastic questions. Thanks to Shannon Hennessey for organizing it all!

Scenes from Paris with my former student and co-author Julia Mead
So delighted to see my former Bowdoin College student, Julia Mead, who is now a Ph.D. student in history at the University of Chicago. She is currently doing archival research in Prague and we rendezvoused in Paris for the Gender and Materiality conference at Sciences Po. We found some time to enjoy the pleasures of the City of Light –embracing the numinous!

An amazing venue in Second Life
I am so pleased with the avatar and the venue built for me by Ruby (Ana Victoria Valladares Rubi) who did most of the creative work on this amazing virtual space. We have not one, but two, of Talin’s Towers to welcome you into the venue. It’s at noon (New York Time) at the Second Life Book Club. Also thanks to Draxtor (Bernhard Drax) for organizing it all.
My Second Life avatar
In advance of my appearance in Second Life for the SL Bookclub, I’ve been playing around in world with my avatar, kindly built for me by Draxtor and this team. Here’s a preview. The dress was inspired by Alexandra Kollontai’s wedding dress when she married Pavel Dubenko.

A lovely collection of essays and images from a 2016 exhibition called “The Kids Want Communism.” I’ll be speaking at an event in celebration of the book on November 5th together with Joshua Simon, Malcolm Harris, and Marissa Brostoff.
With my comrades in Paris
In Paris after a hard day’s work with Francisca de Hann, Chiara Bonfigioli, Sara Panata, Jocelyn Olcott, and our fearless leader, Ioana Cirstocea. I learned so much in one day; it was well worth weathering the jet lag and the heat wave to attend this seminar.
