Writing and Receiving Letters of Recommendation
Within academia, many grants, fellowship, and job opportunities require letters of recommendation, but unfortunately national cultures and disciplinary conventions vary widely. Prof. Sabine Hake (University of Texas at Austin, USA) and Prof. Kristen Ghodsee (University of Pennsylvania, USA) will briefly discuss the political economy of letters of recommendation and the purpose they serve within academic cultures. They will give tips for how to write a good letter of recommendation that will get a candidate noticed in a pile of applications.
